About
Nikhil comes from Coimbatore, with a background in electrical engineering and a hands-on family business in electrical contracting. Long before the words “smart home” entered Indian living rooms, he was already crawling through ceiling voids and switchboards on real sites — learning what actually fails in Indian conditions, and what survives the next decade.
He started Onwords in 2019 to close a clear gap in the South Indian market: serious, engineered gate automation for villas, farmhouses and gated communities — installed by a team that knew the codes, the climate and the customer. As the team built KNX and Matter expertise, the work expanded naturally into full smart-home design — lighting, climate, security and AV — for homes that wanted more than a Wi-Fi plug.
Today the company has led 6,000+ gate automation installations and designed 400+ smart homes, with offices in Coimbatore, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Nikhil personally reviews every premium proposal — KNX backbones, wiring schematics, brand selection — before it goes out the door.
His approach is standards-first and Indian-conditions aware: KNX where it earns its keep, Matter where the future is heading, DALI for lighting that has to behave for fifteen years. “A smart home,” he likes to say, “should outlive the technology trend that built it.”
